Marie Lewis-Johnson

LEWIS-JOHNSON, Marie, age 94, of Dayton, was born October 14, 1922 in Winder, GA to David Sr. and Marguerite Long. She went home to be with the Lord, July 17, 2017. She received her Bachelor’s degree from Central State University. Preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert O. L. Johnson; 2 sisters, 3 brothers; daughter, Helen L. McDougle; son, Charles E. “Butch” Smith. She leaves to cherish her memory, son, James A. Smith, Jr., 5 daughters, Joyce M. Shackelford, Constance J. Robinson, Shirley L. (George, Jr.) Crawford, Vivianne R. Smith, all of Dayton, Natalie V. (Billy, Sr.) Parham of Georgia; 1 sister, Ruby (William) White; 1 brother, Jackie (Marlene) Thompson; 14 grandchildren, 35 great grandchildren, 6 great-great grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Funeral service will be held 11 am Saturday, July 22, 2017 at the House of Wheat Funeral Home, Inc., 2107 N. Gettysburg Ave. Elder Terrence Hayes officiating. Interment Woodland Cemetery.  Visitation 9-11 am. Family will receive friends one hour prior. Gamma Phi Delta Sorority Memorial service at 10:50 am.
