Yvonne Decarol Hooks-Ivery, a lifelong resident of Dayton, Ohio, was born on August 13, 1961. She passed away on December 29, 2025 at her residence.
Yvonne graduated from Colonel White High School in 1981 and continued her education at Miami Jacob College, where she pursued her degree in business. She dedicated her career to workforce development, working as a workforce specialist at Montgomery County Workforce Development. Additionally, Yvonne was a member of The Potter’s House International Ministries, where she served as a greeter. She was a devoted mother and grandmother, and those who knew her, truly understood the depth of her love.
Preceded in death by her parents, Jerry and Barbara Hooks; husband, Kenneth Wayne Ivery; grandparents, J.C. and Mary Martin; brother, Gary Hooks; grandson, Bruce Broyles III.
Yvonne leaves behind her loving son, Kenneth Hooks; grandchildren, Keya Hooks, Karecia Hooks, Elias Artis; great grandchildren, Ka’Mauyah & Ka’Maura White, Ky’Reen, Ky’Ree, Ky’Reyae Broyles, and Khaliyah Wagner; her siblings, Darnell, Nelson, and Darrin Hooks, Jana Walton, and Vera (Jeffrey) Arnold; she also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Funeral Service 11 am Friday, January 9, 2026 at House of Wheat Funeral Home, 2107 N. Gettysburg Ave., Dayton, OH. Visitation 9 am- 11 am. Family will receive friends 10 am- 11 am.
