Winfred Saucer Obituary

Winfred Olonda Saucer, (SSG, USA, Retired), died unexpectedly on June 5, 2022. Winfred was born on March 29, 1956, in Monroe, LA, to Fred and Hannah Saucer, the second child and twin. He graduated from Dunbar High School, Class of 1975, and from Lincoln Technical College in Indianapolis, Indiana in 1977.

He served his country for “31 years, 10 months and eight days” in the U.S. Army. He worked over 26 years for UPS, more than 12 years at 7 (Seven) Up, and 5 years at Freightliner. 

He was a devoted father and grandfather and his love for his children and granddaughter helped to nurture their growth. His devotion to his high school sweetheart resulted in a marriage that lasted over four decades. 

He is preceded in death by his father, Fred Saucer, and daughter, Winifred Yolanda Saucer. 

Winfred is survived by his devoted wife of 45 years, Gwendolyn Saucer; son, Fred Saucer (CO); granddaughter, Kailona Ivory (OH); mother, Hannah Saucer (OH); brothers, Lester R. Saucer, Sr. (MA) and Michael Saucer (OH); sisters, Charlotte (Robert A. Sr.) Butler (OH), Rhoda Smith (OH), Cherlyn Saucer (OH), Roselyn (Lymorris) Thornton (OH) and Patricia (Ron) Pollock (OH); sister-in-law, Beverly Wall (FL); brothers-in-law, Jesse (Regina) Wall (TX), Kendrick Cunningham, Sr. (OH) and Keith Cunningham (FL); and a host of nieces, nephews, other family members and friends. 

Graveside service will be held 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 15, at the Dayton National Cemetery, 4400 West Third Street. (Social distancing and face masks are required). Arrangements entrusted to House of Wheat Funeral Home, Inc.
