Wanda Marie West

West, Wanda Marie, age 71, born July 7, 1947 in Dayton, Ohio, it is with great sadness that the family of Wanda Marie West announces her passing on Friday, August 3, 2018. Wanda was a graduate of The Girls Industrial School of Columbus, Ohio, where she began her career as an exceptional cosmetologist. Dr. West was committed to teaching and training other young women how to become successful cosmetologists, entrepreneurs and business owners. A multipreneur before her time, her successful beauty salons, Salon of Distinction and Black Hair Is, were a hallmark for women in the city of Dayton as a place of beauty, elegance and class.

Preceded in death by her father, Warren West; sisters, Shirley Ann West and Arletta Ann Maddox; stepfather, Mr. Robert Walker; beloved Godson and nephew, Isaiah Lafayette West. She leaves to cherish her memories, her mother, Ada Marie Walker; children, Azizah Sulieman-Morrison and Anwar Bakr’ Sulieman; grandchildren, Imani, Kevin, Addison, Anastasia, Awn’yae, Liam, Memphis, Riley, Eric (Ashley), William, Corey, Eric and Kyshawn; sisters, Carolyn Walker (Luther) Saddler and Marva West; uncle, James Hardrick; nieces and nephews, JaQuata, Earl, Ronald, Devaughn, Jamal (Ashley), Charmin, April, William, Ahmad, Rakim, Sha’Kora, Ciarra, Evon, Ronald Jr. Devaughn, Jr., Akeem, Joakeen, Kaleem; beloved Goddaughter, Georgette Amelia Fogle; the Christ Temple Apostolic Faith Church family, God’s Unstoppable Ministries, and the Prophets House Church family of Washington, DC; a host of relatives, spiritual sons and daughters and friends all of whom she loved dearly.

Funeral service will be held 12 Noon Saturday, August 11, 2018 at Bethesda Temple Apostolic Church, 3701 Salem Ave. Bishop Robert Parks, Sr. officiating. Visitation 9 am at the church until time of service. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Arrangements entrusted to House of Wheat Funeral Home, Inc.
