Tommy D. Watson, born April 16, 1951 in Dayton, Ohio, the sixth of seven children born to Maggie Lois and Jesse Roy Watson, departed this life and transitioned to his heavenly home June 18, 2021 in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
Tommy was a graduate of Roosevelt High School, Class of 1969, where he played football and was active in other school activities. After graduation he attended Central State University where he also played football and was active in the community. Tommy enlisted in the United States Air Force and he had a successful career serving his country.
Tommy accepted Christ at an early age, and he was very passionate about serving the Lord. Tommy was fun loving and enjoyed family, friends and life. He had a hearty laugh and the biggest, brightest smile. Tommy was a man of many talents, which led to his nickname Tommy “Tool bag” Watson and you could count on him to get the job done. He was the life of the party, and he loved to sing and dance to any genre of music.
Tommy was preceded in death by his loving parents, Maggie and Jesse Watson; sisters, Sarah Walton and Ella Douglas; brother, Larry Watson.
He leaves to cherish his memory and celebrate his legacy his children: Allen (Rosa) Watson, Tamika Watson, and Renee (Ronald) Black-Nelson; sisters, Dorothy Weatherspoon, Maggie (Frank) Garrett; brother, Jesse (Eileen) Watson; 11 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends.
Say not in grief he is no more, but in thankfulness that he was.
Memorial service will be held 11 am Tuesday, July 13, 2021 at the House of Wheat Funeral Home, Inc., 2107 N. Gettysburg Ave. Calling hours 9 am until time of service. Interment Dayton National Cemetery.
