Timothy L. McCambry

Timothy Lawrence McCambry, age 71, a longtime Dayton resident, peacefully departed this life November 5, 2019 at Miami Valley Hospital after a lengthy illness.

He was born August 31, 1948 in Covington, Kentucky – the first child of Stanley Miller and Martha (McCambry) Avant. The family moved to Dayton when Timothy was a boy. He attended Dayton Public Schools, graduating from Paul Laurence Dunbar High School in 1967.

Timothy worked in logistics at Wright-Patterson AFB, retiring after many decades. A loyal and ardent Wolverine, he religiously attended Dunbar basketball games. He also enjoyed watching The Ohio State University’s football games on Saturdays and the Cleveland Browns on Sundays.

Timothy was a dedicated family man. He was high-spirited and kindhearted. His great sense of humor and amiable nature put others at ease and won him many friends everywhere he went.

He is preceded in death by his devoted partner and mother of his children, Sherry Ann Weaver; father, Stanley Miller; mother, Martha (McCambry) Avant; stepfather, Eldridge Avant; brother, Stanley Miller Jr.; niece, Lisa Montgomery.

He leaves to cherish his memory, sisters, Micki Miller and Shirley (Charles) Montgomery; brother, Terence Avant; daughter, Latoya Weaver; son, Preston McCambry; stepdaughters, Carla and Tracy Weaver; grandchildren, Kiana and Kameron Veasley, Saniya Swift, Antony, Isaiah and Jacob McCambry; step grandchildren, Nichole Henley, Mark Hill Jr., Marvin, Maurice, Trayres and Sheree Weaver; a host of great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Funeral service will be held 1 pm Wednesday, November 13, 2019 at the House of Wheat Funeral Home, Inc., 2107 N. Gettysburg Ave. Visitation 10 am until time of service. Family will receive friends one hour prior to service. Interment Woodland Cemetery.
