Tameka Shante Smith, a loving mother, wonderful daughter, and cherished sister, passed away unexpectedly on May 30, 2026. She was born on July 16, 1985, in Dayton, Ohio, to the late James Smith and Anita Moss-Stephens. In her early years, she attended Blairwood Elementary School, Radcliff Middle School, and Dayton Christian. She graduated with her high school diploma from Miamisburg High School. Tameka graduated from Lincoln College of Technology in 2011 with her Licensed Practical Nursing Diploma. On May 29, 2026, she graduated from Ohio Medical Career College with her Associate's Degree in Nursing.
Tameka joined Highlight Temple Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Rev. Joseph Seldon. She later became a partner of The Chosen Church under the leadership of Pastor Craig Walder Jr. She was the Director of Admissions and Marketing at Carecore at Mary Scott, where she began her journey in April 2026. She was a great cook, an amazing singer, and a faithful servant.
She is preceded in death by her father, James Smith; grandmothers: Virginia Moss and Symiria Franklin; and her cousins: Michael Smith Jr. and Shenequa Moss.
Tameka is survived by her mother, Anita (Rubbennie) Moss-Stephens; her children: Sa’Nai Wallace and Channing Cochran; her sisters: Tyra Simmons, Teresa Smith, and Tammy Smith; her brother, Ebony Moss; her nieces: Camione Moss, Alaya Johnson, and Ebonni Moss; her nephews: Joshua Johnson Jr. and Jakai Johnson; and a host of other family, relatives, and friends.
Funeral Service 11 am Thursday, June 11, 2026 at House of Wheat Funeral Home, 2107 N. Gettysburg Ave., Dayton, OH. Visitation 10 am- 11 am at which time family will receive friends. Pastor Craig Walder Jr. officiating. Interment Shiloh Park Cemetery.
