Shirley A Turner

Shirley A. Turner was born in Dayton, OH on November 2, 1942 to the late Morris and Ida Marable. She departed this life Tuesday, January 27, 2026 at the age of 83.

She attended Roth High School and graduated from Jefferson High School class of 1961. Shirley received her bachelor’s degree from the University of Dayton and a teaching degree from Antioch University in Yellow Springs, OH. She was a teacher at Trotwood Madison High School and retired from Dayton Public Schools after 25+ years of service in education.

Shirley had a deep love for poetry and Shakespearean literature. She loved gardening and was passionate about giving and serving others.

Along with her parents, Shirley was preceded in death by her husband, Harry Turner; sister, Cathy Marable.

Shirley leaves to cherish her memory son, Morris A. “Reese” Turner of Louisville, KY; daughter, Kelly Harris of Dayton, OH; sister, Phyllis Leigh of Dayton, OH; granddaughters, Ariana and Chloe Harris; a host of cousins and special friends. A heartfelt thank you to caregiver, Joni Sanchez, for her selfless and unconditional love caring for our mother.

Funeral service 11:30 am Thursday, February 12, 2026 at House of Wheat Funeral Home, 2107 N. Gettysburg Ave., Dayton, OH. Visitation 9 am- 11:30 am. Family will receive friends 10:30 am- 11:30 am.
