Shirley Ann (Walker) Jones sun rose on April 29, 1956, She was the second oldest in a family of six children, three girls and three boys. She was raised by Loving parents. Mary Elizabeth and Edward Johnson.
Shirley give her life to Jesus at the tender age of 12, when she joined Mt. Calvary Missionary Baptist Church in Dayton Ohio. Her favorite. Scripture was Proverbs 3:5-6. "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge the Lord, and He shall direct your paths". Shirley lived by that scripture everyday, asking God to direct her path through life until the end.
Shirley attended Jackson and Weaver elementary schools. She graduated from Colonel White
High School in 1975. She attended Miami Jacobs College where she received certification as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN). Shirley went to work at Marie Joseph Nursing Facility where she remained for several years. Soon though, Shirley had a desire to assist people in another way and became a certified safety office and begin working at numerous security firms. One of which was Merchant Security where she remained for 15 years serving as a supervisor. She then went on to work at Stillwater Skilled Nursing Rehabilitation where she remained until her illness. Shirley was a lover of life and people. She volunteer to serve the underprivilege and homeless through meal distribution and assisted with finding services to meet their needs. She met and married Donald in July of 2008, they were married for 17 years.
Her sun set on February 27, 2025 in Dayton, Ohio at the age of 68. She was preceded in death by her parents, and grandparents. She leaves to mourn her transition, Her husband, Donald W. Jones, Two sisters; Bernice L. Frazier, and Tracy (John) Logan. Three brothers; Steven L. (Desiree) Walker, Kenneth D. Walker, and Dan A. (Dairya) Walker. One son, Lee R. Walker, two daughters, Yaneshia L. M. Hancock. , and Laticka A. R. Hancock . Four grandchildren; Leondre Dow, Naomi M. Wright, Elizabeth T. R. Hancock, and Jeshia R. Gomez. Niece, Marquetta Marie Walker, nephew Gary Eugene Frazier, host of great grandchildren, grand nieces, nephews, cousins, and numerous other family and friends.
Memorial service 11 am Thursday, March 20, 2025 at House of Wheat Funeral Home, 2107 N. Gettysburg Ave., Dayton, OH. Calling hour 10 am- 11 am at which time family will receive friends.
