Shawn Pierce, a lifelong resident of Dayton, Ohio, was born May 12, 1969, to James and Dianne Pierce. Shawn departed this life unexpectedly Friday, July 30, 2024, at Miami Valley Hospital.
Shawn was a graduate of Jefferson High School, where he received a scholarship to play football at Ohio University; however, he chose to attend Central State University where he received his bachelor’s degree.
Building on his passion to become an entrepreneur, he became co-owner of Club Aristo, formally Spunky’s Night Club. Shawn worked at Meijer Distribution Center as a supervisor to pay for schooling at Central State. He has always had a passion for helping youth strive through life and was employed through several group homes. Montgomery County Juvenile Center was one of the group homes he was employed as a Youth Leader supervisor for over 20 years. Shawn has always been known for his hard work, long hours, and dedication to his job.
Shawn was a devoted and caring father, as well as a loving grandfather who was affectionately known as “Poppy.” He was truly a man that greatly loved his entire family. He would get off work and immediately go past his mother’s house to visit her every day! You would often find Shawn sitting around watching his favorite football teams, Philadelphia Eagles and Cincinnati Bengals, and talking about his family and the love he has for his aunts! He would let you know he had a special place in his heart for them.
He was preceded in death by his loving mother, Dianne Pierce; great grandparents, Hiram and Ruby Hill; maternal grandparents, Herman J. and Cora Mae White; paternal grandparents, James and Ruth Pierce; aunts, Jessie, Jurusha, and Ida Ruth; uncles, Raymond Rogan, Winfred, Michael and Bruce White, Levi, Henry, Johnny and Moses Pierce.
Shawn leaves to cherish his memory, his devoted fiancé, Monique Hitchcock; father, James Pierce; daughter, Princess Hitchcock; sons, Shawn Motley-Pierce, all of Dayton, OH, and son, Tremayne Jones of Akron, OH ; brothers, Todd Pierce of Dayton, OH, Dr. Chad (Gail) Pierce of Martinez, California; grandchildren, Rayne Manson, Shawn and DeShawn Pierce; aunts, Mildred Rogan, Barbara (Darryl) Jones, Janette White, Delores Byrd of Dayton, OH, Yvonne (Charles) Jackson of Jacksonville, FL; cousin/sister, Jamie White, a host of cousins, nephews, nieces, and many friends.
Shawn has touched many people during his time here on earth and will be missed by many!
