Shawn J. Hawkins Jr.

Shawn Jermaine Hawkins Jr., age 30, of Dayton, Ohio passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, February 12, 2025.  He was born on January 31, 1995 to parents, Youlanda And Shawn Hawkins Sr.

Shawn graduated from Jefferson High School in 2014. He worked in food service for numerous years. Shawn has always been our “Sexy Chocolate” in his late auntie Myesha’s eyes.  He was a very courageous and bubbly person.  Shawn would brighten up a room at any given time.  He always had a big bright smile on his face.

He was preceded in death by his maternal great grandparents, Annie and Arnold Earnest; paternal great grandparents, Oscar Lee and Minerva Hawkins; grandparents, Horace Erving and Rachel Hawkins; special grandmommie, Dorothy Chambers; aunt, Myesha Hawkins; uncle, Dorian Sims.

Shawn leaves to cherish is memory his parents, Youlanda and Shawn Hawkins Sr.; grandmother, Teresa Earnest; aunts, Thawanna Hawkins, Terrie and Dorione Sims; Vashyra and Kimberly Earnest; uncles, Dameon Reese, William Hawkins, William Earnest, Dylon Lauderdale and bonus uncle, Troy White; 4 siblings, Brooke Hawkins, Fred Crenshaw Jr., RaShawn Hawkins, and JayShawn Hawkins; devoted partner, Alma Brown; 4 children, Shawn III, A’Shawnti, MyShawn, Shawntair; bonus son, Kyair; along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Funeral service 11 am Friday, February 28, 2025 at House of Wheat Funeral Home, 2107 N. Gettysburg Avenue, Dayton, OH. Visitation 9 am- 11 am. Family will receive friends 10 am- 11 am. Interment Shiloh Park Cemetery.
