Sarah Elahee Obituary

Sarah Mae Elahee was born April 8th 1935 to Robert E. Tolbert and Jessie Reed Tolbert in Hodges, South Carolina.  She attended local schools and graduated from Brewer High School in 1953.  Sarah professed her faith in Jesus Christ at an early age and was baptized at Pine Grove A.M.E. Church.

In 1954, she was blessed with the first of three sons, Michael. After relocating to Dayton, Ohio she worked at various jobs before being employed at Montgomery County Juvenile Courts and then General Motors (Inland) until her retirement.

She met and married her lifelong Love, Khaleel Elahee and they married on June 23rd 1962. (Khaleel preceded her in death in 2017.) To this union would come two sons, Ameer and Darius.  Sarah was a dedicated and loving wife and supportive mom, acting as team mom for the numerous baseball, basketball and football teams her sons would play on, and her husband would coach. 

She united with St. Timothy Missionary Baptist Church in 1978 where she was a dedicated member of the choir.  Her passion was young people.  She served as director of youth for many years, taking an active role in youth bible study, sports teams and even traveling with the youth to Sunday School conventions around the country until retiring in 2004.  She touched many lives, young, old and all ages in between.

She leaves to cherish her loving memory her three sons, Michael, Ameer (Shelia), Darius. 6 Grandchildren, Diarra and Dominyque Elahee, Monrovia, CA.  Donovan, Christian, Savannah and Miles Elahee, Atlanta, GA, Sister Georgia Bell Thomas, Ware Shoals, SC 6 Grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and special friends.  

Funeral service 12 pm Saturday, March 9, 2024 at St. Timothy Missionary Baptist Church, 4466 Free Pike, Dayton, Ohio. Visitation 11 am at which time family will receive friends. Interment 9 am, Monday, March 11, 2024 at Dayton National Cemetery.  Arrangements entrusted to House of Wheat Funeral Home.
