Russell Allen Wilson, 83 of Dayton OH, took his wings and transitioned from this life to be with the Lord on December 15, 2024. He was born November 24, 1941, in Hamilton OH to the late Frank and Laura Wilson.
Russell was a graduate of Taft High School in Hamilton OH, where he was on both the football and basketball teams.
After high school, Russell had a very fulfilling career. He attended Miami University and he received an associate degree in Business Administration from Sinclair Community College. Russell received an honorable discharged from the U. S. Navy after serving 4 years in 1964. Russell also received an award from General Motors as a Local 801 IUE Union Representative. He later retired from General Motors in 2000 after 31 years of service. After retirement, Russell was also a police officer for the University of Dayton and later he was self-employed as a financial planner.
Russell married Annabelle Lanehart on February 26, 2016.
Russell was a member of the Greater St. John Missionary Baptist Church, where he served as a Deacon until his illness.
In his spare time, Russell enjoyed fishing and spending time with family. Russell was very skilled in karate and he loved showing his grandchildren his moves.
Russell was proceeded in death by his loving parents, Frank and Laura Wilson, Margret Ann Minnow (sister), Jeanie Wilson (niece) and Ray Foote (brother-n-law).
Cherished memories will be left within the hearts of his wife, Annabelle Wilson, 3 daughters; Carmen (Eddie) Harrison of Hamilton, OH. Keisha (Eldrick) Sherman-Hill of Colorado Springs, CO and Valerie Phillips of Dayton, OH. 3 sons; Craig (Carol) Robinson of Atlanta, GA, Dietrich Gray of Dayton OH and Matthew (Merissa) Wilson of Cincinnati, OH. 8 granddaughters, 6 grandsons, 3 great-granddaughters and 1 great-grandson. 2 sisters-n-law; Virginia (Paul) Walker of Union, OH, Cynthia Foote of Dayton OH and 3 brothers-n-law; James (Patricia) Foote of Marion, IN, Larry (Terri) Foote, of Brownsburg, IN and Charlie Foote of New Albany, MS, along with other relatives and special friends; Randy Ellis and Author Watson.
Funeral service 11 am Tuesday, December 31, 2024 at Greater St. John Missionary Baptist Church, 4200 Germantown Pike, Dayton, OH. Visitation 10 am- 11 am at which time family will receive friends. Interment Dayton National Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to House of Wheat Funeral Home.
