Ruby Rodgers, was born to Robert Peters and Malinda Streeter in Everettville, West Virginia. Her family moved to Huntsville, Alabama where she met Nelson Rodgers. Ruby and Nelson later married and moved to Dayton, Ohio.
Four children were born from their union. Ruby was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church in Dayton, Ohio for over 30 years. She was employed at Sunshine Nabisco and National Cash Register (NCR) until both companies went out of business. Ruby was an assembly line worker at General Motors until she retired.
Ruby was known for baking the best, homemade German Chocolate cake!
She is preceded in death by her parents, Robert Peters and Malinda Streeter; sisters, Floretta Dixon, Annie Bryant, Katie Ison, and Ambrazine Peters; brother, Willie Peters; and grandsons, Rocco Lindsey and Derick Lang.
Survivors include sons, Larry (Viola) Rodgers and Rudy (Wendy) Rodgers; daughters, Jacquelin Wardsworth and Lynn (Linda) Conat; grandchildren, Phyliss Baldwin, Anjala (Winston) Ferguson, Maceo (Rita) Rodgers, Tia Rodgers, Maurice Peyton, Dr. Natasha Wardsworth, Canessa Yancey, Damian Hutson, Larry Rodgers Jr., and Bianca Rodgers; 24 great grandchildren, 9 great-great grandchildren.
Walk-through visitation 11 am-1:30 pm Friday, March 5, at the House of Wheat Funeral Home, Inc., 2107 N. Gettysburg Ave. Graveside service 2 pm at Woodland Cemetery, 118 Woodland Ave.
