Roosevelt Grier was born in Cedartown, Georgia on December 19, 1946. He moved to Dayton, Ohio at the young age of 8. Roosevelt graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1967. His first job was with Kurz Kasch eventually moving on to retire from Chemineer after 22+ years.
Throughout his life he had many interests which includes golf, shooting pool, and fishing; but at the end of the day, he loved playing the lottery! Roosevelt was a private man but would go out of his way to help anyone in need.
Roosevelt was called home to be with the Lord on Monday, May 4, 2026.
He was preceded in death by both parents, Ray and Clara Grier; sisters, Annie “Ann Del” Harris, Martha Jean Buggs, Barbara Ann Bostic, and Polly “Sue” Grier; brothers, Charles, Rafus, and Robert Grier.
Roosevelt leaves to cherish his memories sons, LaMar (Julie) and Tyrone Grier; brother, Willie (Tutti) Grier; six grandchildren, Erin (Lamar) Rhodes, Alex, Mara, Trey Grier, Miles Campbell, and Tyler Curtis; eight great-grandchildren, Taylor and Isaiah Cox, Kairo Rhodes, Tyler Jr. and Kenari Curtis, Jessiah Johnson, Jamir Jenkins, Taecyn Bumpus; a host of nieces, nephews and other family friends.
Funeral Service 11 am Friday, May 15, 2026 at House of Wheat Funeral Home, 2107 N. Gettysburg Ave., Dayton, OH. Visitation 9 am- 11 am. Family will receive friends 10 am- 11 am. Interment West Memory Gardens.
