Ronald Albert Long Sr.

Ronald Albert Long Sr. (affectionately known as ‘Ronnie’), age 75, departed this life on Sunday, September 22, 2024. He was a lifelong resident of Dayton, OH, born on December 21, 1948, to the late Ray Jr. & Hallie (nee Taylor) Long.

Ronnie graduated from Roosevelt High School, Home of the Roosevelt Teddies, Class of 1967, and proudly served his country in the United States Army, Private 2ND Class.

In 2021, Ronnie retired from his career at the Dayton Veterans Administration Medical Center.

In addition to Ronnie’s parents preceding him in death, he mourned the loss of other loved ones including his brother, Russell Long; nephew, Roderick Long Jr.; great-nephew, Ke’Sharn Burney; and grandson, Darnell Pate Jr.

Ronnie’s three (3) children, all of Dayton, OH, will forever cherish fond memories of their Dad. They are Nichelle (Darnell Sr.) Pate; Ronald Jr. (Dana) Long; and Antoine Sr. (Arriel) Long.

Also celebrating Ronnie’s life are his siblings: Rollins Burney; Rochelle (Ronnie, deceased) Ellis; and Michael (Linda); Belinda; Delores; Roderick Sr.; Richard (Vanessa); & Charlene (Fort Wayne, IN) Long.

To further Ronnie’s legacy are ten (10) grandchildren: Da’Chelle (Nyke Sr.) Howard; Jaylin, Jordan, & Ariyah Long; Antoine Jr. & Te’Ayre Long; Ashton Cole; Londyn, Payton, & Baylee Long; plus six (6) great-grandchildren: Sa’Nyi, Nyke Jr., & Major Howard; Kensley Long; and Zavier & Zayd Talley.

Ronnie’s surviving aunts include Juanita Ogelsby, Frances Taylor, Betty Long, & Arnette Long.

He is also blessed with a host of nieces, nephews, & cousins who adored him and many special friends.

Funeral service 11 am Saturday, October 5, 2024 at Mt. Pisgah Church, 1 Diamond Ave., Dayton, OH. Visitation 10 am at which time family will receive friends. Arrangements entrusted to House of Wheat Funeral Home.
