Rodney Lydell Sly, age 57, passed away Thursday, November 7, 2024. He was born on August 4, 1967 to Charlie J. Sly Jr. and Verper L. Sly.
Rodney was a proud graduate of Trotwood-Madison High School class of 1985. He was the owner of Mitt Masters Cardio Boxing Gym in downtown Dayton, Ohio. He had an infectious smile and was known to have an active and vivid imagination. Rodney was an “All-Star” skater. He enjoyed riding motorcycles and ATV’s and doing daredevil stunts on them.
Rodney is preceded in death by his father, Charlie J. Sly Jr.
He leaves to cherish his memories, his wife, Renee’ Lawson; children, Dashawnda Wheaton, Brandon McClain, Troy Sly, Alexus Sly, Jeven Sly and Janese Walker; his mother, Verper L. Sly; sisters, Janice Kemp-Dennis, Wanda Sly-Watson, and Michelle (Todd) Sanders; brothers, Charlie (Josephine) Sly III, Scotty Sly Sr.; special friends, Jesse “Pops” Brown, Thomas “Uncle Tommy” Montgomery, Sylvester Roberts, Erik Wilson, Eric “Easy” Stinson, Quincy Pope, and Hubert Hill; a host of other family members, friends and clients that are too many to name.
Funeral service 12 pm Wednesday, November 20, 2024 at House of Wheat Funeral Home, 2107 N. Gettysburg Ave., Dayton, OH. Visitation 9 am- 12 pm. Family will receive friends 11 am- 12 pm.
