Rod Melvin Douglas (Quwii), age 73, departed this life on April 28, 2025 in Dayton. Born April 19, 1952 to Robert and Bessie Douglas in Dayton, OH. Rod was the seventh of eight children.
Rod attended Roosevelt High School and a trade school to learn to be a butcher. He had serval jobs, but excelled at ABF Freight systems for more than 25 years.
Rod converted to Islam in 1981. His special hobbies and interests were cars, drag racing, Star Trek, boxing, fight parties, chess and hanging with the family.
He worked hard to build his lovely home and if you ever were a guest, you heard him say "And you better take your shoes off when you come in the house."
He was preceded in death by his parents; 4 brothers, Robert Jr., Kirk, Carson and Carl Douglas; 2 sisters, Scarlet Daughtery and Janet Jordan; a grandchild, Tai Barksdale; and former wife, Eula Johnson.
Survived by 3 sons, Rod Jr. (Shree'), Zarion Malik Douglas (Whitney) and Jarrette Allen; 3 daughters, Ebony Carter, Renee Hespeth and Tyesha Allen- Barkdale (David); sister, Blanche Williams; 7 grandchildren, Deshawn Hall Jr., DaMier Hall, Derricka Kingsman, Dae'len Douglas, Malik Thomas, She'mira Douglas and Zynn Douglas; his special sister-in- law, Jackie Douglas and former wife and longtime friend, Twanda Allen; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Funeral service at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 7, 2025 at House of Wheat Funeral Home, 2107 N. Gettysburg Ave., Dayton, OH. Visitation 10 am- 11 am at which time family will receive friends. Interment Forest Hills Memorial Gardens.
