Robert McKinley Houston-Bey was born on November 24th, 1942, to the late Samuel Houston and Jeanette Strickland in Glen, Georgia. As the only child, Robert was raised in Dayton, Ohio and graduated from Dunbar High School. Soon after Robert enlisted in the United Air Force as an Airman. He attended the Air Force University at Gunner Air Force Base in Alabama, where he received his Associate Arts Degree in 1962 as a Drafting Specialist. Until 1964, where he was Honorably Discharged. He later attended Central State University until 1966, where he met and married Patricia Bohannon.
He continued to further his education in obtaining degrees in Architecture, Building construction and Industrial technology. Amongst his career he owned a shoe store and a night club.
In 1983, he later married Mary Ferguson, he started a business called “Environ & Associates of Dayton Ohio”. In 1986, he started as an installation manager for Dayton Showcase Company and remained there for 10 years. Following that, he worked for May-Lin Manor as a property Manager/Architectural Drafting until he retired in 2003.
Mr. Robert McKinley Houston-Bey spent the last 27 years with the love of his life, Rosalyn Lee, until her death in 2022.
He leaves to cherish his loving memories: Tige McClodden (Doris), Robert Houston Jr. (Tenisha), Garland Ferguson (Linda), Steve Harding (Annette), Rhonda Lee (Virgil), Edward Staffney (Star), Jackie Campbell (Chet), Dawn Crider (Bruce), Jerome Lee II, Todd Johnson (Nikki). He had a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, cousins, nieces, and nephews holding dear to his memory.
Funeral service 11 am Wednesday, August 21, 2024 at House of Wheat Funeral Home, 2107 N. Gettysburg Avenue, Dayton, OH. Visitation 9 am- 11 am. Family will receive friends 10 am- 11 am. Interment Dayton National Cemetery.
