Robert Harvey Obituary

Robert Lee “Bobby” Harvey was born February 6, 1938 in Elizabeth, New Jersey, the ninth of eleven children, to the late Thomas and Thelma Bryom Harvey, and raised in Roselle, New Jersey. Bobby was educated in the Roselle Public School system. After graduating he joined the U. S. Air Force. While stationed in Ohio he met his first wife, the late Olivia Davidson Harvey. Later in life, he married the late Delores McKinney Harvey. Bobby worked at Sam's Southern Market on St. George Avenue in Roselle while attending high school. After completing his service in the Air Force he went back to work at Sam's Southern Market. When the owners sold Southern Market they bought Magnolia Beef in Elizabeth, New Jersey and Bobby continued his employment with them at the new business until his retirement.

He is preceded in death by his sisters, Marie Harvey Williams, Elizabeth Harvey Cannon, Ruby Mae Harvey McKenzie, Charlean Harvey McLendon, and Mattie Kay Harvey Jones; brothers, Thomas (Sonnie) Harvey and Heyward Harvey; grandchildren, Ashton Harvey, Qadriyyah Harvey, Kendall Battle.

He leaves to cherish fond memories his children, Monica Harvey (Kenneth) Battle, Robin Harvey, Ramona Harvey (Calvin) Haney, Erica Brazil Harvey (Charles) Lewis and Silena Mckinney (Jody) Gordon; grandchildren, Kaylon Battle, Shayna Harvey, Demetrius White, Arum Harvey, Yasmine Harvey, India Coleman, Charles Lewis, Diemah McKinney, Amir McKinney; great grandchildren, Kendall Battle, Da’Miyah Sims, Da’Mahnii Sims, Marquise Moore, Major Freeman, Quadri Harvey, Kyron Harvey, Ka'Mauri Tucker; sisters, Ruth Fox Harvey, Valerie Zakiyyah “Jean” Harvey Nadir (Habeeb); brother, Reverend Joseph “Butch” Harvey; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

The family would like to thank Monica and Robin for their exceptional care that they gave to their father from the time his health started to decline until he took his last breath. God's grace and mercy is definitely on both of you.
