Raymond S. Harrison

TSgt Raymond Steward Harrison (USAF, Retired), age 86, of Dayton, Ohio, departed this life, Monday, April 18, 2022 following a lengthy illness. He was welcomed home by his parents, Arthur Harrison and Frances Harrison (Steward), his loving and devoted wife, Phyllis Jean Harrison (Combs), one brother, Arthur Harrison, his son, Dion Harrison, two grandsons, DeShawn Lewis and Jermaine Lewis Sr., and one great grandson, Jermaine Lewis Jr.

Raymond was born to the union of the late Arthur Harrison and Frances Steward on June 14, 1935 in Chicago, Illinois. He was the second of two children. On July 1, 1963 Raymond was united in Holy Matrimony to Phyllis Combs. They were married 52 years. Raymond and Phyllis were the proud parents of three children. He was a faithful husband, caring dad, loving grandfather, and beloved uncle.

Raymond was devoted to the Catholic faith. After high school, Raymond enlisted in the United States Air Force where he retired after 20 years of service. During his time of enlistment, Raymond received several commendations, certificates of achievement, and letters of appreciation for his hard work and dedication. After he retired from the Air Force, he completed several college courses at Sinclair Community College and he also worked for St. Vincent Hotel for many years until he retired from employment there.

Dedication and determination were the driving forces behind the type of man Raymond was. One thing he was known for throughout his neighborhood was working outside in the yard and how well he kept his yard looking. Some of his favorite past time activities were watching wrestling and old television shows.

He leaves to cherish his memory one daughter, Darla Harrison-Lewis Thomas; one son, Daryll Harrison (Freda Hand); four grandchildren, DeArmon T. Lewis (Kay), Dameeca Garrett, Dawana Garett and Desmond Lindemuth; ten great grandchildren, Diamond Garrett, Dakota Waden, Daemar Crawford, Dasia Garrett, DeArmon J. Lewis, Ja’Nya Lewis, Desmond Lindemuth, D'Angelo Lindemuth, Jason Steele and Mariyah Hale; along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Raymond will truly be missed but forever in our hearts, may he rest in heavenly peace.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11 am Thursday, April 28, at St. Benedict the Moor Catholic Church, 519 Liscum Dr. Visitation 9 am until time of service. Interment Dayton National Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to House of Wheat Funeral Home, Inc.
