Phyllis L. Gaulding, also affectionately known as Nana, age 76, received her heavenly wings April 29, 2022.
Phyllis was a lifelong resident of Dayton, Ohio, born to the late Oscar Lofton and Goldie Stevenson. She was a graduate of Roosevelt High School, Class of 1964.
Phyllis was an intricate part of the village in which she raised her kids. She shared in the nurturing and upbringing of many. She had a beautiful smile and a wonderful sense of humor. Her crowning achievement was being an active part of her children’s lives as well as her grandchildren. She was a dedicated and supportive wife and embodied the phrase ‘Gaulding Strong’ until the very end.
Phyllis was preceded in death by her siblings, Donald Lofton, Jane Lofton and Joan Lofton Jackson.
She is survived by her loving husband of 59 years, Horace C. Gaulding. Her legacy includes her children, Darrell C. Gaulding (Chesstine), Gregory A. Gaulding (Patricia), Ehioze (Jeff) Nnamdi, Aaron H. Gaulding (Bridgette), Todd D. Gaulding, Holli L. Trammell (Jep); a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews who she loved dearly; lifelong friends, Phyllis Rose, Michel Smiley Ponce and Gloria Harris.
Walk-through visitation 9-11 am Friday, May 6, at House of Wheat Funeral Home, Inc., 2107 N. Gettysburg Ave. Funeral service will be held at 11 am. (Mask Required).
