Peggy Lou Brown was born on January 5, 1952, the beloved daughter of Matthew and Wanda Gail Corley, and she was the loving mother to Shaleen Brown. Born and raised in Dayton, Ohio, Peggy was also the precious sister to Mark Corley and Jeff Corley, all of whom preceded her in death. Peggy was a God-fearing woman of faith and entered into eternal rest on August 22, 2025.
Peggy is survived by her sisters, Regina Bailey (James), Daria Hurd (Jerald), and Kendra Scales (Hosea), as well as a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, and cousins.
Peggy's life was a testament to her unwavering faith, love, and service. She was a proud graduate of Dunbar High School, class of 1970. Peggy was a federal civilian employee of Wright-Patterson Air Force Base for many years and retired from the General Services Administration (GSA). As a devoted member of Phillips Temple CME Church, she supported the Christian Youth Fellowship (CYF) as a co-leader for over ten years.
Peggy’s love for her family was always evident. Inside her home, framed photos showcased her cherished moments, while her affection was expressed through heartfelt text messages, cards, and thoughtful gifts. She never missed a family celebration or birthday. Additionally, she created handcrafted and framed bumblebee pin displays, which she generously gifted to family and friends.
Peggy treasured her family book club as more than a place to read, it was a fellowship of laughter and love. Each meeting filled her with joy, reminding her how much she valued the voices and stories of Daria, Regina, Bonita, and Kendra.
Peggy adored her cousin, Cynthia. They shared a family bond that felt more like lifelong best friends, built on countless memories and joy. She also enjoyed a relationship with her partner Thomas for many years.
We can still hear Peggy say, “Sweet Jesus” when praying out loud. To God be the Glory!
