Patricia Evans Garrett, affectionately known as Sis or Sister, was born in Dayton, Ohio to Frank Sr. and Ruby Evans on May 21, 1947. She heard the Clarion Call of the Deep to “come to the other side” on Monday, February 17, 2025. She is now home with the Angels.
Patricia accepted Christ at an early age and was a lifelong faithful member of St. Luke Missionary Baptist Church, where she served proudly in the Youth Choir, Usher board, Holistic Health Ministry, Kitchen Committee, and Vacation Bible School teacher for many years.
Patricia’s hobbies included crocheting, knitting, and sewing. She was a member of a sewing club which she attended regularly.
She was formerly employed by E.F. McDonald and later with Dayton Power and Light. Later she worked for CompuNet Laboratories where she retired after 13 years of service. After retirement, the ever-busy person that she was, Patricia was employed as a part- time receptionist at The Oaks of West Kettering, where she worked for 8 years.
Patricia attended Sinclair Community College receiving an Associate Degree in Applied Science in 1994, and Wilberforce University receiving her Bachelor of Science Degree in 1995.
Patricia was a vibrant person and demonstrated that by her love for mankind. She lived by her motto: “Be the labor great or small, do it well or not at all.”
Patricia was preceded in death by her parents, Frank Evans Sr. & Ruby Evans; brothers, Worley Sr., Frank Jr, and LeaVerne Evans; ex-husbands Gary Hollis and Allen Garrett; best friend of 60+ years Deane Roberts.
She leaves to perpetuate memories of her beautiful life children, Gary Hollis and Summer Garrett; grandchildren, Sha’eon Garrett-Bolden Sr., Sumauri Garrett, and Serenity Garrett; great grandchildren Sa’Niah Garrett-Bolden, Ski-Lynn Garrett-Bolden, and Sha’eon Garrett Bolden Jr.; her sister/cousin Cynthia Pearson; sisters-in-law, Celestine Evans, Debra Humphrey, Sandra Lyle, and Nell Saccus; nieces (that she absolutely adored) Shavelta (David) Johnson, Rev. LaSaundra Dudley, Regina Evans, and Michelle Lyle; nephews, Eric Evans, Darrell Hood, Kevin Evans, Jeffrey Evans, and Deric Humphrey; a host of other family and friends. Patricia will be greatly missed by all who loved her.
Funeral service 12 pm Wednesday, February 26, 2025 at St. Luke Missionary Baptist Church, 2262 N. Gettysburg Ave., Dayton, OH. Visitation 11 am- 12 pm at which time family will receive friends. Interment Woodland Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to House of Wheat Funeral Home.
