Naomi Minnifield Obituary

Naomi Minnifield departed this life peacefully on Wednesday, November 23, 2022. She was born in Randolph County, Alabama to P.G. and LaVada Trammell, one of eleven children. She graduated from the historic Randolph County Training School (RCTS) and held a long career in the medical field where she earned her retirement from Miami Valley Hospital. Naomi was blessed with 88 years of life, living each one to its fullest. 

Naomi was one of Jefferson Township’s “Granny’s” for over 50 years and one of her favorite things to do was to entertain guests on her front porch or in her kitchen where you could always find something to eat. She loved traveling, dancing, singing and enjoying time with family. Preceded in death by her loving husband, Otis Minnifield, sons, Marvin and Joe Minnifield, grandson Otis (OJ) Minnifield, parents P.G. and LaVada Trammell, brothers Leroy Trammell, Jesse Trammell, Robert Trammell, Sr. and JP Trammell, sisters Josephine Rutledge, Patricia Toler and Eva Slay.

She leaves to cherish lots of good memories and laughter, her daughters, Lynda Minniefield, Margie Jones, Brenda Minnifield and her son Larry (Donna) Minnifield, Sr. Grandchildren Paris Minniefield, Sr., Jason (Teresa) Houston, Sr., Danya (Devon) Berry, Chanda (Shawn) Lewis, special granddaughter- Cicely Jones, Margie “Baby” Jones, Michael Hazel, Isiah Butler, Sean Sims, Sr., Somer Davis, Larmar Minniefield, Derrick Winn, Ma’Chon Minnifield, Larry (Brittany) Minnifield Jr., Naomi “NaNa” Minnifield, Alexander Minnifield, Antoine Hall, Sr., Allison Hall, Stan Passmore, Shaunice Williams, Sheila (Tootsie) Minnifield, Debbie Fisher, Ruby Mabry, two sisters Mary Cleveland and Betty Miller and one brother James (Barbara) Trammell. Special “Granny-sitters” Jamil (Pooter) Smith, Chase Lewis, Princeton Austin, Journey and Mason Berry. Special family friends, Anita Carmichael and Sandra Bernard, 44 great grandchildren, 13 great-great grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Visitation 10 am-12 noon Friday, December 2, at Canaan M.B. Church, 1591 Hoover Ave. Dayton, OH. Family will receive friends 11 am-12 noon. Funeral service at 12 noon.
