Myron D. Moon beamed into the world with his “BIG” presence on April 19, 1957, and returned home to God on July 21, 2025. He was born to the late Nebuchadnezzar Davenport Jr. and Marguerite (Moon) Scott in Dayton, Ohio.
Myron graduated from Colonel White High School, where he played basketball. Upon graduating, he pursued higher education at Wright State University and International Broadcasting School. Myron began his career at Minority Contractors Assistance Program (MCAP) as an Estimator for the city of Dayton. In his role, he supported small Black owned businesses with planning materials for buildings, houses, blacktop, and build outs within the city of Dayton.
As he embarked on his own path of becoming a young man, he was known to many as Moon. Possessing a “BIG” smile and “BIG” presence, Moon was a pillar in the community—charming, a jokester, and an easy going person to talk to, he loved connecting with others, often helping people discover solutions for their problems. Passionate and purposeful work was simple for Myron—extending a helping hand when needed, filled him with great joy.
"When you know better you do better." Moon did not waver in his integrity, morals, or values. He believed in doing the right thing when you know it’s the right thing to do, even when it's not the easiest choice to make. Moon utilized these beliefs to help impact, influence, and redirect young men and their paths.
Moon's Fun Facts:
Moon played the lottery every day until HIS number fell (lol).
Guaranteed to find Moon at the gambling spot and he was going to shut it down! Skilled and talented gentleman at the game of gambling—known as lucky, he’d give an individual their money back and a second chance to win. Moon loved to travel, eat seafood (ShuckShack was his jam), always enjoyed looking and smelling his best, appreciated the joys of cooking spicy foods, and would hit up an estate or garage sale early in the morning. Moon was kind, loving, and giving...and he’d check a situation or person without hesitation.
Moon was going to enjoy whatever space his “BIG” presence landed.
"If I had a pair of dice I’d roll it twice and bet on LIFE."
Moon is preceded in death by his parents, Nebuchadnezzar Davenport Jr., and Marguerite (Moon) Scott, his brother, Darryl Davenport, and nephew, Terrell Davenport. Continuing his “BIG” presence and legacy are four daughters, Tamekia Reynolds-Moon, Tiffany (Moon) Floyd, Myla Hall, and Shannon Brandy; three sons, Nicholas Moon, Myron Allen, and Shane Brandy; and six grandchildren Clayton Thompson, Maddison Hall, Joshua Ryan Moon, Jenna-Rae Long, Ethan Floyd, Torri Floyd. Keeping his “BIG” presence alive are five sisters Brillie Scott, Mildred Scott, Latasshia Davenport, Latashia Davenport, and Keyairra Coles; two brothers Don C. Scott Jr, and Kimberly “Kimmy” Davenport; thirteen nieces and nephews, Sherman Scott, Kiona Scott, Sheraynne Scott, James Scott, Bryant Scott, Don C. Scott III, Kim-Aisha Davenport, Jenerra Davenport, Darryl Jr. Davenport, Daryeonna Davenport, Michael Davis, Sade Davis, Javonte Davenport and a host of great nieces, great nephews, cousins, and friends. Special honor to Paul Williams, Shawn Lewis, CheQuata Allen, and Shana (Harris) Sanders. Moon—Father, Grandfather, Brother, Uncle, Cousin, Friend, your “BIG” presence and “BIG” smile will be missed. You beautifully impacted everyone that crossed your path. You taught priceless lessons that only you could teach with grace and love. Your footprints have been MADE, your legacy and name will LIVE. Moon, we love you to life. Enjoy Paradise.
