On Friday, April 25, 2025, Minnie Lee Wortham's soul stepped across the threshold that we call death into the soft glow of eternity.
Minnie Lee Wortham was born November 6, 1927, in Sallisaw, Oklahoma to Easter and Lumpkin Goldthread. She departed this life on April 25, 2025, at the age of 97. She accepted Christ at an early age and began her lifelong walk with the Lord. She was a member of Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church for over 60 years and was an active member of various ministries. She graduated from Paul Laurence Dunbar High School, class of 1944. She was a former employee of the VA Medical Center and retired from the U.S. Post Office after 25+ years of service.
Minnie was a loving wife to Jasper Wortham, and they celebrated over 40 years of marriage. They were blessed with five wonderful children she cherished: Ada D. Scarborough, James W. Wortham, Dorothy E. Harris, Madeline Tucker, and Anna R. Jones.
Minnie was preceded in death by her husband, Jasper Wortham; son, James Wortham; daughters, Ada Scarborough, Dorothy Harris, Anna Ruth Jones, and Madelyn Tucker; her aunt, Mary Miller; best friend, Harvie Brame; and daughter-in-law, Marilyn (Wortham) Guy.
She leaves to cherish her wonderful memories her grandchildren, Akiva Tyler, Kniyonka Turner (Jerrell), Sinnie Wortham, Bartina Wortham, James L. Wortham, Emilea Blunt, LaShonda Tyler and Larry Tyler; 26 great-grandchildren and 18 great-great grandchildren; 9 great-great-great grandchildren; one niece, Mary K. Hardwick, 2 great nephews, and 2 great-great nephews; son-in-law, Robert Scarborough, daughter-in-love, Joyce Tyler; honorary family members: Brad Richardson, Julia Myles, Mildred Davis, John Conley and Eunice Hinton, along with a host of other family members and friends.
Funeral service at 11 a.m. Friday, May 9, 2025 at Shiloh Baptist Church, 3801 Fairbanks Ave., Dayton, OH. Visitation 10 am- 11 am at which time family will receive friends. Interment Dayton National Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to House of Wheat Funeral Home.
