Minnie Mae Staten was born on November 4, 1936 to the late Joe Spells and Mammie Purvis. She departed this life Thursday, March 27, 2025 at Hospice of Dayton. Minnie was a native of Meridian, Mississippi and a Dayton resident majority of her life. She was a member of St. Luke Missionary Baptist Church.
Preceded in death by her parents; son, James “Deck” Staten; brother, James Earl Handy.
Minnie leaves to cherish her memory son, Billy Staten; daughter, Deborah (Matt) Taylor; stepsons, John and Earl Staten; grandson, Juwan Staten; great grandchildren, Jayla, Juwan Jr., Jordan Staten; a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral service 11 am Monday, April 7, 2025 at House of Wheat Funeral Home, 2107 N. Gettysburg Ave., Dayton, OH. Visitation 9 am- 11 am. Family will receive friends 10 am- 11 am. Interment Woodland Cemetery.
