Michele Denise Lovejoy, loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, cousin, and friend, born September 16, 1954 in Dayton, Ohio, was called home to be present with the Lord Thursday, April 1, 2021. Michele Denise accepted the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ at a young age and often referred daily to her favorite scriptures, Psalm 25, Psalm 91, and Isaiah 54:17, which were hidden daily in her heart. The word indeed was a lamp and a light for her path in life.
Michele Denise loved live music, and her favorite genres included gospel, classic R&B, jazz, and blues. Michele Denise and her husband Robert listened to "Blues at Sunrise" on WDAO, and would use their radio names, Boxcar Bob and Lady Michele, for special requests on the request line.
Michele Denise deeply loved her children, Mica, Myeesha, and Damon (deceased). She sacrificed tirelessly without a second thought to her own needs ensuring they had the best that life could offer. She got matters done despite any odds, with many obstacles, and often with little resources. Her children received a great deal of love and compassion through her life and were consistently reminded that they were her greatest gifts.
After working various administrative assistant jobs, Michele Denise decided to go back to school to do better for her children. Michele Denise graduated from Sinclair Community College and obtained an Associate of Applied Science in Accounting. Following graduation, she worked diligently at and retired from Wright Patterson Air Force Base. Michele Denise also had an entrepreneurial spirit and started a jewelry and apparel business, where she worked trade shows and pop-up stores with her oldest daughter, Mica.
Michele Denise loved spending time with her sister-friends and regularly attended lunch with the crew: Susan, Denise, Tommie, and Paulette. During her working years, she enjoyed playing bid whist with her close friends, boasting about their best hand while the smooth sounds of the Isley Brothers, The Temptations, Earth Wind & Fire, Stevie Wonder, and countless others filled the house in monthly tradition after a long work week. She enjoyed going to monthly birthday gatherings and spending time on major holidays with the family. Being a “Granny” was a great joy to her, and she bragged about her grandchildren at every opportunity. She loved to hold her grandbabies and tell their mothers, Mica and Myeesha, the “correct” way to hold, feed and was always full of parenting advice. Her daughters will surely miss the daily phone calls from their mother, in addition to her unwavering devotion, unconditional love, and support.
Michele Denise was preceded in death by her parents, Edward E. Campbell and Dorothy T. Johnson-Parham; step-father, Timothy Parham; child, Damon K. Lovejoy; paternal grandparents, John H. and Mary Lillie Campbell; maternal grandparents, Berther and Georgia Johnson.
