Michael A. Mathews

Michael Alan Mathews, age 63, departed this life April l 23, 2021. Michael was born March 15, 1958 to the late Willie F. Mathews Sr. and Mattie Jovita Vaughn Mathews. His academic achievements include Letters of completion/certification in Auto Mechanics/Maintenance from Green Joint Vocational School 1976; High School Diploma from Baker High School 1977; Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration from Urbana University 1990. Michael was also a Veteran who served Honorably in the United States Air Force.

He is preceded in death by his father, Willie F. Mathews Sr., and two brothers, Willie F. Mathews Jr. and Russell E. Mathews Sr.

Michael leaves to cherish his memory, his loving and devoted mother, Mattie Jovita Vaughn Mathews; daughter, Tamica Angelina Mathews-Bernard; two strong brothers, Stephen L. Mathews and Jeffrey (Teresa) Delaney; three treasured sisters, Pamela (Willie) Peay, Jacqueline (Michael) Davis, and Erica Mathews (Dave Evans); peacemaker and voice of Reason, Uncle Jack Thompson; Revered and loving aunt, Lucille Herring; more relatives and special friends.

Michael was a character who truly enjoyed life. Family and friends, he made no distinction, for once a part of his world, all were as one! As for his legacy, the stories he left us in our minds and the smiles he left us in our hearts are more than enough!! Well Done, Michael, Well Done.
