Michael Eugene Freeman, Sr., born September 10, 1954 in Duluth, Georgia to the late Nathaniel Freeman and Vivian Cross-Freeman, transitioned from this life Saturday, February 6, 2021 to be present with God in Heaven.
Michael accepted Christ at an early age and most recently attended Freedom Hill Bible Church.
He was a graduate of Dunbar High School, Class of 1972. While there he played Varsity Basketball and was a part of the 1971 team that finished as runners-up in the Ohio Class AAA State Finals. He participated with the Dayton Boys and Girls Club where he was a team leader and also was apart of the Gem City Baseball Club.
Michael went on to attend Knoxville College, Sinclair Community College and Miami Valley CTC where he received degrees in Busines Administration, Medical Coding and several special skilled labor certifications. He was a devoted employee of Wright-Patterson AFB Procurement for 15 years and the State of Ohio Department of Liquor Control for 17 years, serving as store manager.
Michael was a professional level billiards pool player, winning several first-place team and individual awards while competing across the country. “Big Mike”, as those closest to him affectionately called him, also loved fishing, road trips, music (especially live concerts), and watching sports, Family Feud, WWE wrestling. He loved spending time with his Billiards League teammates, and time with his family, especially his three “grandgirls”.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Vivian Freeman; brothers, Calvin Freeman and Mitchelle Von Freeman.
He is survived by his lovely wife of 43 years, Pansy Mitchell-Freeman; sons, Michael Jr. and Shawn Freeman; granddaughters, La’Shawn, Ke’Andra and Sariah Freeman; special aunt, Mable Cross; a host of family and friends.
Walk-through visitation 9-11 am Wednesday, February 17, at House of Wheat Funeral Home, Inc., 2107 N. Gettysburg Ave. Private Service. Interment Woodland Cemetery.
