Michael Davis, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, left this world peacefully on August 6, 2025, at the age of 61, surrounded by the love of his family.
Born on January 4, 1964, in Pickensville, Alabama, to Lovell and Lottie (Hall) Davis. Michael grew up with a heart full of compassion, unshakable faith, and a spirit that inspired everyone he met. Whether training in martial arts, teaching wrestling, or sharing life lessons, he approached everything with passion, discipline, and joy.
At the age of 26, Michael met the love of his life, Jacqueline Davis, at Sinclair Community College. Together they built a marriage rooted in faith and commitment, dedicated to providing their children with a foundation for life. Even during moments of hardship, they served as a safety net for their children, grounding them in the Word of God.
In 1995, Michael earned his associate’s degree as a Physical Therapist Assistant from Sinclair Community College. For 30 years, he served in various healthcare settings, but found his greatest purpose and ministry in home health with Alternate Solutions, where he was able to touch countless lives in the community.
Martial arts was more than a sport to Michael, it was his ministry. Through it, he gave back to the community, mentoring youth and instilling the values of respect, perseverance, and self-discipline. His presence will be deeply missed by the many students and friends whose lives he shaped.
Above all, Michael cherished his role as a grandfather. His 27 grandchildren were his pride and joy, and he poured his heart into them, leaving behind a legacy of love, wisdom, and faith.
Michael’s strength was found not only in his mind, body, and spirit, but also in his heart. He gave without expecting anything in return and always showed up when someone was in need. His legacy of love, strength, and faith will forever be carried by those who knew him.
Michael was preceded in death by his daughter Nicole Davis, his father Lovell Davis, and his mother Lottie Davis.
He is lovingly remembered by his devoted wife of 30 years and “baby doll”, Jacqueline Davis, who shared a lifetime of love, faith, and partnership with him; his children Michael Davis, Chanteé (Gregory) Wimberly, Lamika Davis, Miesha (Marshall) Wilson, Erica (Mathews) Davis, and Barbara Ann (Zachary) Barnett; his siblings Mona Gaffney, Karen (James) Adcock, Lisa Davis, Vera Davis; his in-laws Jeffrey (Theresa) Delaney, Stephen Mathews, Pamela (Willie) Peay and Erica (David) Mathews-Evans; his 27 grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends who loved him dearly.
“For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end. Then shall ye call upon me, and ye shall go and pray unto me, and I will hearken unto you. And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart.” Jeremiah 29:11–13
