Mary Louise Berryman was born July 24, 1926, in Cincinnati, Ohio, to the late Omar K Carter and Ethel Fisher Carter. She transitioned from this life to her heavenly home on Wednesday, July 10, 2024, in Beavercreek, Ohio, Village at the Greene.
Mary graduated from Withrow High School. She retired from the Veterans Administration in Dayton, Ohio, after many years of service.
Besides spending time with family and friends, she enjoyed crocheting, knitting, fishing, bowling, bingo and watching her favorite baseball team, the Cincinnati Reds. Mary was known to have a generous spirit. She never turned anyone away who needed a place to stay or a hot meal.
Mary accepted Christ and was baptized at an early age at Mt Carmel Baptist Church in Cincinnati, Ohio. She rededicated her life to Christ in her later years. She was a member of Calvary Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend Doctor Tommy H. Byrd, Jr, Pastor and was able to attend until her health began to fade.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Chester O Berryman; siblings, Charles Carter, Earl Carter, Theodore Carter and Sara Barkley; daughter, Justina Elder; grandchildren, Porshe Love Burton and Meshawn Brown.
She leaves to cherish her memory: children, Sonya (Thomas) Hemmelgarn, Ceasar R Berryman Sr., Myron (Tracey) Berryman, Arma Jean Burton; grandchildren, Dale Elder, Donovan Brown, Lakeysha (Jermaine) Conway, Ashley Rutledge, Chauntay (Lacy) Berryman, Sierra Benning, Ceasar (Lydia) Berryman, Jr, Saquoiah Hemmelgarn, Abigail Hemmelgarn, Clinton (Sadia) Hayes, Regina Bolds, Renee Bolds, Latreyshea Roberts, Erika Roberts, Sadrena Stallworth, Tosha Burton; 37 great grandchildren and 6 great great-grandchildren; special family members Bridget Smith, Michael Gilliard and Ronald Logan and a host of nieces and nephews other relatives and friends.
Funeral service 11 am Wednesday, July 24, 2024, at Calvary Missionary Baptist Church, 2067 N. Gettysburg Ave, Dayton, OH. Visitation 10 am at which time family will receive friends. Interment Dayton National Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to House of Wheat Funeral Home.
