With deep love and gratitude for a life full of purpose, we announce the peaceful passing of Mr. Marvin L. Epps on May 3, 2025, at the age of 93.
Born on April 29, 1932, in Dayton, Ohio, Marvin was the cherished son of Corine Epps and Babe Owens. A proud and lifelong resident of Dayton, Marvin dedicated 49 years and 7 months to General Motors, where his hard work, loyalty, and quiet leadership earned him the respect of all who knew him.
Marvin, affectionately known as Spike, was more than just a provider; he was a pillar of strength and grace. Known for his calm spirit and generous heart, he was a man who led with humility and purpose. Marvin was also a bowler, skater and an amateur boxer, and a devoted member of the greeter’s ministry at Mt. Calvary MBC a passion that reflected his fighting spirit, discipline, and determination. Traits he carried with him throughout his life.
He was preceded in death by his mother, father, and two brothers.
He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife of 43 years, Charlene Epps; who stood by his side with unwavering devotion and love. Marvin’s legacy lives on through his children: Veda Foster, Pamela (Herbert) Fields, Eric Epps, LeeAnna (Michael) Dozier, Donna Williams, Crystal Strickland, Dawn Cofield, Donald (Rosanne) Ramsey II, Casie Wilson, Myron (Marquetta) Epps and Marla Wright. He was also the proud grandfather of 28, great grandfather of 39, and a host of great-great grandchildren. His devoted sister-in-law, Jacqueline Smith, brother-in-law, James (Susan) Smith, and son-in-law, Christopher Wilson. Each a reflection of the love and values he instilled in his family.
Though our hearts are heavy, we are comforted knowing Marvin’s spirit lives on in the lives he touched. He is an unforgettable husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, great-great grandfather, friend, and mentor. He will always be our everything. May his memory be a blessing, and may we carry forth his legacy of love and compassion in all that we do.
