Maria L. McGhee-Connally

Maria Lynn McGhee-Connally, age 67, passed away unexpectedly September 20, 2021 at her residence.

Maria was born June 11, 1954 in Buckhannon, West Virginia where she was raised. She graduated from Buckhannon-Upshur High School and attended West Virginia University. Later she moved to Dayton, Ohio where she would go on to raise her son, LaTre Tate and daughter, Tonnisha Findley (Connally). Maria was a member of Greater Allen AME where she served on the usher board and sang in the choir. Maria retired from MetLife Auto & Home, and CareSource. After retiring, she spent her time with family and friends, and liked to travel until she became ill. Maria loved God, family and friends, and lived her life as such.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Phyllis McGhee; brother, Wayne Grant; nephew, Phillip McGhee.  

She leaves behind to cherish her memory her loving and devoted children, La’Tre Tate, Tonnisha Findley (Connally) and son-in-law, Jason Findley; sister, Sharon Smith; brothers, Mike McGhee, Jimmy McGhee (Kathy), Rodney McGhee and Chris McGhee (Barbara); grandchildren, De’Mareon Tate, Naliyah Tate, Camden Connally-Clay, Thailand Cassidy, Israel Sumerlin, Adriana Tate, Legend Tate, Royalty Tate and Luxury Tate; nephews, Joseph Baylor, Langston “Kemo” Farmer and Windsor McGhee; nieces, Theresa McGhee, Katrina McGhee, Kiersten Farmer, Caribbea Danko-McGhee (AJ), Shayla McGhee, Abbey McGhee, Shontee Coleman and Shelia Bradley (Robert); great nephews, Kevin Boyd, Mujasi McGhee and Arlo McGhee; great niece, Alexia McGhee; close friends, Anna Coleman, Reina Barnett-Holiday, Karen Smith and Kimberley Lewis; a host of great-great nieces and nephews, and close family friends.

Walk-through visitation 12-1 pm Thursday, September 30, at House of Wheat Funeral Home, Inc., 2107 N. Gettysburg Ave. Funeral service at 1 pm. (Mask Required). Interment West Memory Gardens.
