RICE, Margaret C., 82, of Dayton, Ohio, passed away Sunday, August 8, 2021 at Shiloh Springs Care Center. Margaret was born April 15, 1939 in Dayton, to Edward “Snag” Rice and Edna Williams.
Margaret was a graduate of Roosevelt High School and Michigan State University where she received a Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education. She also worked as a licensed beautician, as a prison guard at Dayton Correctional Facility for Women, and at DMHA Security (RSVP). She was the lyricist and author of the hit song, “As We Lay”.
She is preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Donald Wall and Edward “Butchie” Vessel; son, Albert Clark.
She is survived by her siblings, Richard “Dick” Wall, Linda Willingham, Saundra “Snookie” Rice-Brooks (Victor Sr.), Tajauana “Pixie” Rice, Leonard “Lucky” Barrett; children, Marcheta Rice, Theresa Clark, Edward Clark, Michele Clark, Crystal Jackson; 20 grandchildren; a host of great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and special friend, Dorothy Beatty.
Memorial service will be held 2 pm Sunday, August 22, at Burkham Center Park, 679 S. Broadway St.
