Marc Giles-Sims Obituary

Marc Anthony Giles-Sims was born on December 7, 1988, to Marc Giles and Krishna Sims in Norfolk, VA. He departed this life on January 14, 2023. Marc spent his early childhood in Dayton.

As a young child, Little Marc, also known as Mookie, was energetic and loved sports. He was playful and respectful. Marc was known to be a jokester. He moved with his father to Prince George’s County, Maryland during his elementary years and lived there until he was 16 years old. During his time in Maryland, he played football as a quarterback for youth teams and Bladensburg High School. Marc was a great sibling. His older sisters called him the little big brother because he was always the protector. His younger siblings looked up to him and cherished the time they spent together.

He moved back to Ohio where he fathered 3 daughters who were the apple of his eye and his motivation to be a provider and excellent father. He learned a trade that he would carry with him for the rest of his life. He used those skills to not only provide for his family but had begun to renovate a home for his family to move into. Marc was not only good with his hands but was a talented singer. At every family event, he would be guaranteed to put on a show. The family enjoyed having him serenade us all the time and looked forward to when he would share a track that he produced with us. Family was important to Marc, and he made it a point to get the family together as often as possible. He was the uncle that would be a sounding board, a disciplinarian but also the one that they could have fun with.

Marc was predeceased by his great grandparents, Harold and Dorothy Giles; grandparents Greg and Crystal Vaughn; sister, Keywana Sims; cousin, Tyraun Giles; and friend Shareef Tillman.

He leaves to cherish his memory his mother, Krishna Sims; father and bonus mother, Marc and Jamille Giles; grandmother, Dorothy Avent (Jimmy); aunts Alicia Giles and Saffiyah Raafi; uncles Mustafa McCrea, Robert Sims, Umar Raafi, Sulaiman Raafi, and Kamiel Raafi; siblings Tawana Sims, Markeeta Sims, Shenee Freeman-Giles, Genee Giles, Ashley Giles[1]Sims, Amirah Al-Gaheem, Jakova James-Sims, Corey Richardson, Kayla Valaike, Jadyn Giles, and Jordan Giles; daughters Tresnae Giles-Sims, Amari Giles-Sims, Sha’Mariah Giles-Sims, and Janiyah Cooper; his love Shameka Cooper; friends Dion Black, Danny Strozier, Shi’Quan Tillman, Antjuan Gaulding, and Rasheeda Barfield; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
