Lynn Denise “Dennie” Moore (McGuire) was a loving daughter, sister, mother, and friend. Denise departed this life on Thursday, April 25,2024, after a brief battle with cancer.
Denise was born September 25, 1951, to the union of the late Tillman and Myrtle McGuire (Peterson) as their only daughter. Raised in a household as the only daughter with three brothers had its challenges but if you know Dennie you know she definitely persevered.
She attended public school in Dayton, Ohio where she was a proud graduate of the class of 1969 from Nettie Lee Roth High School where she was a majorette. Upon graduating she continued her studies at Sinclair Community College where she studied Finance. Hard work was in her DNA, you could see her sashay down the runway for Elder-Beerman Department Store or assisting her brother at the family nightclub. However, once she started her career as a Corporate Cashier at General Motors, she was able to settle herself into work and family. Denise retired in 2007 from Delphi after 33 years. Denise was not able to sit still, she went back to work as a Cashier for Chase Bank where she worked for 6 years until she retired for good.
An active parent, you would find Denise volunteering at any of her daughter's extracurricular activities. She was a school mother at Valerie Elementary School and was like a mother to the entire Stivers Gospel Chorale.
On top of volunteering for her daughter’s extracurricular activities, Denise also made time to be a volunteer treasurer for The Dayton Black Cultural Festival.
Along with giving her time to volunteer, Denise found tons of happiness enjoying her hobbies of bowling, reading, knitting, listening to music, and most importantly Church.
Denise leaves to cherish her loving memory, her beloved daughter Juan Blanks. Three brothers, Ronnie (Karen), Michael (Juan) and Derrick (Sandra) McGuire. A host of Nieces and Nephews, Aunts and Uncles, Cousins, and Friends. Like a mother, Gloria Blackmon. Special friends Antoinnette Adkins, Judy Bayless- Jackson, Kathy Hill, Ginny Farrington, and Rebecca Kapp.
Family will receive friends 1 pm- 2:30 pm Saturday June 15, 2024, at Happy Corner Church of the Brethren, 7037 N. Union Rd, Clayton, OH. Program 2:30 pm- 3:30 pm. Celebration 3:30 pm- 7 pm. Interment: Woodland Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to House of Wheat Funeral Home, Inc.
