Lucille Cosby Obituary

Lucille Cosby, age 82, of Dayton, Ohio, born on January 10, 1942 in Lowndes County Tyler, Alabama. Lucille was a resident of Dayton since 1964. Lucille departed this life Monday, January 15, 2024.

Lucille, or Lulu, as she was affectionately known, was a faithful member of Pleasant Green Missionary Baptist Church where she proudly served as an usher and Pastor’s aide (Love in Action Member). She deeply loved Pleasant Green Missionary Church Family and often bragged on her pastor, preachers, and ministers of music.

She retired from GM Truck and Bus Moraine after 31 years of service and there she had a GM family as well.

Lulu was best known for her love of family, strong faith, generous spirit, and deep love for her Pleasant Green family. She was also known and loved for her spontaneous laughter, and generous spirit, always willing to give whatever she had and take anyone into her home.

Favorite memories of Lucille were her loyalty and a fierce defender of her children.  You wouldn’t know by her smile that life was not always easy for Lucille.  She has always taken perfect care of her five children, giving them love in abundance.  She was a hard-working woman, and could always make a friend, even taking them into her home if needed.  She took care of her mother in her later years, and her ailing brother, even though she didn’t live close by, she was a protector of her sisters Wayma and Bonnie.  Her “sista” Bonnie talked daily praying and lifting one another up. They also enjoyed watching TBN on the phone together. Maria, Lucille’s niece, would teases them that their color purple “sista” Celie and Nettie.

We will miss her good cooking, especially her mac & cheese, yams and sweet potato pie. We will also miss her wit and humor and tell it like it is personality and laugh about it.

Preceded in death by her mother, Mary Wagner; daughter, Joyce Turner; son, Nathaniel (Eugene) Cosby; sister, Wayma Sullivan; brothers, Wilbur and Ernest Cosby.

Lulu leaves to cherish her memory her three children, Sharon Cosby, James (Tonia) Harris, and Lakeshia Cosby; son-in-law, Terry (Patty)Turner; sisters, Bonnie Bazemore of Philadelphia, PA, Linda Hughley of Anniston AL; sister-in-law, Sarah Cosby of Birmingham AL; special brother-in-Law, Harold Harris of Alexandia VA; 4 grandchildren, Antwon Cosby, Javian Blake-Harris, Lashay Ivory, and Tyson (Michelle) Patrick of St. Louis MO; 8 great-grandchildren, Andre and Marie Smith, Ka’leya Alstark, Na’layna Cosby, Kyleigh Phibbs, Javiah Blake-Harris, Journei Belcher and Mila Sanders; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, along with her special cousins, Josie Graham, Diane Cosby of Dayton OH, Louisa Cosby of Detroit MI, close sister-friends for over 50 years that still communicate with daily, Ernestine Thornton, Mary Rose, Barbara Grant, Beverly Heath and Karen Frezgi of Charlotte N.C, and her neighbors, the “look-out crew”, Marvalene Raglin, Pastor Peavy, Renee Richardson, and too many other special people to list who she adored and had a close relation with.

Special thanks to Trotwood Davita staff, Dr. Eduafo at MVH, Dr. Zaman and Dr. Muthappan.
