Louis Carter Jr., age 60, was born April 2, 1963, and received his wings on November 2, 2023, at Miami Valley Hospital. He was born in Dayton, Ohio and was baptized with two of his children on April 3, 2022. Louis graduated from Fairview High School and was an exceptional athlete, especially in football.
Louis, affectionately called Butch, retired from General Motors after 17 years of employment. He was also employed with Dayton Public Schools until his untimely passing. Louis was a hardcore Dallas Cowboys fan and their biggest critic. He was well known in the community and his closest loved ones refer to him as ‘Sweet Daddy Lou’. He loved to travel to Upstate New York and some parts of Canada to go Salmon Fishing.
Louis was preceded in death by his mother, Carolyn Williams; maternal grandmother, Sue Baker; maternal grandfather, James Dillard; paternal grandmother, Cecelia Graves; paternal grandfather, Willie Carter.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his loving and devoted wife, Shawnea Carter; father, Louis (Joanne) Carter; siblings, Lisa Ross, Pamela Carter, Brian (Carmen) Carter, Sheila (Michael) Irby, Wanda Harrison, Talaya (Anthony) Coleman, Niaisha Hill, Dorothea Harrison; children, Lauren Carter, Neshawn (Tyron) Holly, Lorenzo Rosser, Chantel Carter, Jade Carter; six grandchildren; best friend, Braynt (Susan) Thomas; a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and other relatives who loved him dearly.
Funeral service 1 pm Friday, November 10, 2023, at St. Luke Missionary Baptist Church, 2262 N. Gettysburg Avenue, Dayton, Ohio. Visitation 12 pm- 1 pm at which time family will receive friends. Interment West Memory Gardens.
