Lorenza Jenkins Obituary

Lorenza Jenkins was born on February 26, 1935, in San Antonio, Texas, to the late Joe Smith and Bernita Smith. Lorenza was raised on the east side of San Antonio, Texas and graduated from St. Peter’s Catholic School in 1953 and later from Rets Technology Center in Dayton, Ohio with a focus on Heating and Air Conditioning.

Lorenza joined the Air Force in 1954, where he was stationed at Colorado Springs AFB and Goose Bay Labrador and was honorably discharged in 1957. On June 13, 1959, Lorenza (also known as Brother) united in matrimony to the love of his life, the late Doris J. Jenkins, a Rosenberg, Texas native. In 1960, Mr. And Mrs. Jenkins moved to Cleveland, Ohio and eventually relocated to Dayton, Ohio. This union of marriage lasted for almost 62 years and produced three children, Leonard Warren (Sonja), Sherry Renee, and Angela Nicole (Ezra). Lorenza (Ren) was a loving grandfather to his three grandchildren, Nadia Jenkins, Lorenzo Lewis, and Gabriella Thomas.

Mr. Jenkins was a dedicated truck driver at Wright Patterson Air Force Base Center for over 35 years of service before retiring in 1996. Over the years, his family met several co-workers, who quickly became a part of their small family. Lorenza was also known to be very knowledgeable and extremely handy with the ability to fix almost anything ranging from home projects to automobiles, etc. Mr. and Mrs. Lorenza Jenkins were avid travelers to places like Hawaii on five occasions, Las Vegas every summer, California, Texas every summer, The Bahamas, train rides across the country, and cruises. Lorenza was a huge Dallas Cowboy fan and loved watching boxing matches. One highlight of his life was meeting Floyd Mayweather, Sugar Shane Mosley, Oscar De La Hoya, Bernard Hopkins, and the late Leon Spinks in person while visiting Las Vegas.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his children, Leonard Jenkins (Sonja Jenkins), Sherry Jenkins, and Angela Jenkins-Thomas (Ezra W. Thomas); his grandchildren, Nadia Jenkins, Lorenzo Lewis, and Gabriella Thomas; a host of family members and friends.
