Our dear mother, Linda Fay Smith, passed away on May 9, 2024, at the age of 70. She was a wonderful mother who was always there when we needed her the most, offering support, wisdom, and love in abundance. Full of love, laughter, and resilience, she touched the lives of all who knew her.
Linda was born on February 7th, 1954 in Dayton, Ohio. She graduated from Roosevelt High School and was a proud Class of 72 Teddy. After high school she briefly attended Baldwin-Wallace College before returning home. When she decided to return to school, she studied Nursing at Sinclair Community College where she received her Associates Degree and became a Registered Nurse (RN). She loved children so she worked at Grandview Hospital on the pediatric unit until she retired. In retirement, she became a Nana and decided to “babysit” all four of her grandchildren (and a few other special children) until she retired from childcare in 2020. In her spare time, she was an avid reader, shopaholic, and a devoted caregiver to her dogs King and Prince.
Linda leaves to cherish her memory her daughter Kesha Smith-Petty (Antheny), her son Oscar “Lee” Marshall Jr, and step-daughter Shelly Dunlap. Her 4 grandchildren Dominique, Ayanna, AJ, and Autumn. Sisters Lisa (David), Donna, and Cheryl. Brothers Tony (Reganda) and Larry. Special nephews Shawn Cherry and Tone Reeves. Devoted best friends Karen Peterson and Butch Marshall. And a host of others that knew her including other loving stepchildren, stepsiblings, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends.
