Linda Marie Barwick was born on September 24, 1948, to the late Kenneth and JoAnn P. Fritz in Dayton, Ohio. She grew up in Dunbar Manor with her younger sister, Letitia A. Knox (Fritz), where she attended Wittier Elementary School, and later moved to Jefferson Township where she attended Jefferson Township Elementary, Junior High, and High School. She was an avid cheerleader and graduated in 1967 with a concentration in nutrition. She attended and graduated from Sinclair Community College with an Associates in Dietetics, and thereafter, worked at the Wright Patterson Air Force Base Medical Center for over 26 years as a licensed dietitian, retiring in1996.
As a lifelong advocate for community service and volunteering, Linda was known for giving back and fostering a sense of unity within the Dayton community. Her dedication and passion inspired others to get involved to make the West side of Dayton an improved and better place. Her personal passions were her family and listening to music. She was well-known as “Mommy” to all of her children’s friends, even as adults, for her nurturing, loving, and free spirit.
Linda transitioned from this life on Tuesday, October 31, 2023, in Dayton, Ohio. She is preceded in death by her first husband, Eugene Scott Byrd; and second husband, Henry L. Barwick of 49 years.
She is survived by her loving children; daughter, Tracy L. Barwick of Bowie, Maryland; sons, Anthony E. (Tony) Barwick of Dallas, Texas; Scott E. Barwick (Angela), and Henry L. Barwick, III (Tracey) of Dayton, Ohio; loving sister Letitia A. Knox (Fritz) of Dayton, Ohio; and a host of grandsons, 1 great granddaughter, along with nephew Dion D. Knox (Melody) of Dayton, Ohio; many relatives, and a host of friends.
Memorial service 11 am Wednesday, November 8, 2023, at House of Wheat Funeral Home, 2107 N. Gettysburg Avenue, Dayton, Ohio. Calling hour 10 am at which time family will receive friends.
