With heavy hearts and loving memories, we celebrate the life of LaDonna Boyd, affectionately known as “Boom,” who gained her wings on September 8, 2025, in Dayton, Ohio.
Born in Tuskegee, Alabama to the late Mildred Boyd. LaDonna’s life was shaped by love, grit, and a spirit of resilience that she passed down to everyone she touched.
Boom was a mother not just to her own children but to the entire neighborhood. If you were hungry, she fed you. If you needed a laugh, she made you laugh. And if you needed the truth, she gave it to you straight; no sugarcoating.
Her kitchen table was always full of good food, love, and a little bit of wisdom.
She began her career at NCR and later spent many years working at Kroger, carrying the same down-to-earth spirit that defined her at home. Outside of work, Boom loved visiting the casino, lighting up any room she walked into, and cherishing every moment with her family, her greatest joy.
She was preceded in death by her beloved son Antonio Boyd and daughter Shelia Lee-Boyd, whom she loved dearly and is now reunited with.
She leaves to cherish her memory, her sons Sol Amen Ra and Lamon Boyd; grandchildren Brandon Kelley-Lee (Ivey), Devin Shayne Lee, Shi’Era Lindsey-Boyd, Kayla Henson, Lord Allen, Lamon M. Boyd, La'Marrhia Thomason; host of great-grandchildren, extended family, and countless friends who loved her.
To know her was to love her; plain and simple. She showed us that you don’t need a perfect life to be a perfect example of love, strength, and resilience. She taught us to laugh, to eat good food, to love hard, and to stay real. We will miss her, but her spirit lives on in every meal, every laugh, and every hug we share.
Visitation 10 am- 1 pm Thursday, September 18, 2025 at House of Wheat Funeral Home, 2107 N. Gettysburg Ave., Dayton, OH. Family will receive friends 12 pm- 1 pm. Funeral service begins at 1 pm.
“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.
Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness…” — 2 Timothy 4:7-8
