Katherine Price Obituary

Katherine M. (Fields) Price “Katie” came into the world on May 9, 1933 to the late Hattie Smith and Frank “Pappy” Fields in Paris, Kentucky.  As Hattie traveled to Ohio with Katie in tow, they ultimately settled in Dayton, where she finished her childhood.  Katie began working as soon as she was able and started a family shortly after.  Katie’s first child was Richard Paul Fields followed by Marie Antoniette Hart, Russell Harold Hart Jr., Terri Lynn Hart, and Gregory Fields.

While raising her children, Katherine continued working to make ends meet and the children began contributing as soon as they were of age.  Due to her steadfast example of work ethic, they all knew what it means to roll up their sleeves.

After the older children were raised and making their own way through life, she became the wife of her late husband, Archie Price.  Katherine continued to care for others along the way.  So many were welcomed into her home and provided for while Katie worked.  To this day, she is remembered for her assertive personality and ability to make something out of nothing.

She is preceded in death by her late husband, Archie Price; her mother, Hattie Smith; a sister, Mary Francis Fields.

She leaves behind three sons, Richard Paul Fields, Russell Harold Hart Jr. (Rosie), Gregory Fields; two daughters, Marie Antoinette Hart and Terry Lynn Hart; grandchildren, Lalita Fields, Shawn Hart, Erica Fields, Yvonne Hart, Mark Hines, Rodney Hart (Leslie), Dejuan Hart, Shannon Nicole Hart, Russell Harold Hart III, Damien Hart (Shakira), Rylesha Hart, Rikita Fields, Sierra Fields, and Richard Fields Jr.; 24 great grandchildren.

Katherine’s outgoing spirit was the thing that connected her to so many.  The family is especially thankful for Robin Winn, Shirley Melson, Doris Hughley, Yvonne Branson and Lester Carlton.
