Katherine Nell Dunson (Robinson), age 70, earned her crown on April 12, 2026 at the VA Medical Center Victory Hodge Hospice.
Kathy, as she was known to all, was born on April 26, 1955, to Leroy and Norma Jean Robinson (Early). Katherine gave her life to Christ at an early age at Corinthian Baptist Church, where she served in various ministries until 2023. She restored her faith in Christ recently under the leadership of Rev. Dr. Tommy L. Bridgeman of Calvary Missionary Baptist Church. On May 30, 1972, Kathy married Travis Dunson Sr. in Richmond, Indiana. Within their union, they welcomed three children: Lillian, Geneice, and Travis Jr. Katherine was a proud graduate of The Roosevelt “Teddies” class of 1973.
Katherine joined the United States Army at the tender age of 33. She rose to the rank of SP4 during her military career stationed in FT Eustis, VA. Kathy served her country in several armed conflicts not limited to, but including Desert Storm and Somalia. She was awarded several medals from her years of service.
Katherine is preceded in death by her parents: Leroy and Norma Jean Robinson, son: Travis Jr., brother: David Robinson, sisters: Edith Burns and Tammy Robinson, and nephews: Raymon Johnson and Thomas J. McNichols Sr.
Katherine is survived by her daughters: Lillian Ragland and Geneice (Devin) Myers, Grandchildren: Chantel Marshall, Damon (Eureka) Davenport Jr., Deveonna (De’Andre) Buchanan, Devin (Yvette) Myers Sr., James (LaCheria) Aubrey III, Dairion Marshall, Marte’ Booze, Deon A. Booze, Daylen Marshall, Dareion Dunson, Duane Butler, Lamont Ragland II, Jevin Ware, Devinnai Myers, Mackenzie Ragland, Morgan Dunson, and Makayla Curington.
Kathy leaves behind a host of 32 Great Grandchildren (+1 currently baking), sisters: Shirley Ann Robinson, Arnetta Gary, and Donna Johnson, Bonus Sisters and Brothers: Fercia Gary, Denise Howard, Patrice Phillips, Willie Hemmingway (Deceased), Michael Phillips, Robert Phillips (Deceased), and Cornelious Phillips (Deceased), and many other nephews, nieces, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. Dear Friend Roxanne Dixon, Bonus Daughter: Patrina Bell, and Bonus Son: Lamont Ragland Sr.
Kathy was loved greatly by her great grandsons who loved going into her room every morning climbing into her bed and then exchanging slobbery kisses. She has and will always hold a special place in the hearts of MANY!
Funeral Service 11 am Friday, April 24, 2026 at Calvary Missionary Baptist Church, 2067 N. Gettysburg Ave., Dayton, OH. Visitation 10 am- 11 am at which time family will receive friends. Interment Dayton National Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to House of Wheat Funeral Home.
