Julia Clarice Foster, age 84, was born on January 12, 1940 in Anniston, Alabama. Julia departed this life on Saturday, March 2, 2024.
Despite experiencing a traumatic injury that necessitated partial amputation of her right leg, she was determined to become a nurse. She moved from Anniston, Alabama to Dayton, Ohio in 1969 to pursue her dream. In 1971 became the first amputee to receive certification as a Licensed Practical Nurse in Dayton Ohio. She worked in this field at Good Samaritan Hospital and later at Wright Patterson AFB Medical Center until she retired. She later worked as a private duty nurse for various agencies and provided respite care of disabled children for several years.
Ms. Foster attended church services for a number of years before her health began to decline and prevented her from doing the things she enjoyed like going to movies, attending music concerts and visiting friends. Still, she continued to feed her faith daily by reading her bible and watching Christian television.
Julia was preceded in death by her parents, Herman and Shephard Roper (Mercer); brothers, Herman Roper Jr., Richard Roper, Robert A. Roper; sister, Cynthia A. Roper; son, Archie L. Foster Jr.; grandson, Curtis E. Ramsey.
She leaves to mourn her passing daughter, Alicia R. (Lewis) Springer; son, Ansley D. (Barbara) Foster; grandson, Steven A Springer; granddaughters, Natasha Foster and Kendra (Ra'Sean Sr.) Johnson; great grandchildren, Ra'Meia and Ra'Sean Johnson Jr.; a host of nieces, nephews and close friends.
