Joyael Lee (Yates) Evans, earned her wings on Saturday, September 7, 2024. She was born on September 17, 1951 to the late Nellie and Joe Yates Jr. in Newnan, Georgia. She was the first grandchild of Bertha and John Clark and one of many for Primmer and Joe Yates Sr.
Joyael Lee and family moved to Scottdale, Georgia in 1959. She gave her life to Christ at a young age. She joined Chapel Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Weaver. The family would later move to Dayton, Ohio in 1965. Joyael Lee joined Mt. Calvary Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. S.N. Winston. She graduated from Roosevelt High School class of 1969. Joyael Lee was proud to be a Roosevelt Teddie. Joyael Lee loved to sing and let her siblings know she was the oldest.
In 1977 Joyael lee met the love of her life Donald Evans who became her husband on February 2, 1980. Together they raised 7 children.
Joyael Lee is preceded in death by her parents, Joe and Nellie Yates; husband, Donald Evans; brother, John Yates; daughter, Michelle Jefferson; son, Anthony Jefferson; great nephew, Calvin Cavonte Tribble; niece, Wilnesha Yates.
Joyael Lee leaves to cherish her memories, 4 sons; Ronald Jefferson, Donny (Kim) Yates, Dorian Evans, and Darnell Evans; devoted daughter, DeChonna Yates; brother, Willie Yates; sister, My’Ra (Calvin) Tribble; devoted and loving nephew, Calvin Tribble II; aunt, Louella (Melvin) Reid; uncles, LB (Ann) Clark and Fred Clark; sister-in-law, Lawana Evans; brothers-in-law, Darryl Evans and Dean Evans; daughter of love, Bre’Aunna Messenge; best friends, Gail Lawson and Charonda McCullars; 27 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren; along with a host of other relatives, family, and friends.
Special thanks to Respiratory and Nursing Center of Dayton and Bella Care Hospice and her 2 favorite nurses, Patrice Bush- Hawes, NP and Marily Handy, RN.
Funeral service Friday, September 20, 2024 at House of Wheat Funeral Home, 2107 N. Gettysburg Ave., Dayton, Ohio. Visitation 9 am- 11 am. Family will receive friends 10 am- 11 am. Interment West Memory Gardens.
