Joy (Crump) Wickes, age 51, was born on August 10, 1973 in Dayton, Ohio. Joy passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, April 12, 2025. She was a graduate of Northmont High School class of 1991 where she was head of the debate team. She attended Wright State University and then Wilberforce University graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree in liberal arts with a concentration in organizational management. She worked many jobs including Reynolds and Reynolds and was the Customer Success Manager for the company Gloo.
She was born and raised at Mt. Zion A.O.H. Church of God where she received the gift with the Holy Ghost. She birthed Sisters in Spirit women’s group, First Fridays youth service and served on the A.O.H. Youth Convention committee.
She was an avid Ohio State fan and jazz lover of the Jazz Crusaders especially. She enjoyed LIFE and serving on the ministry team for the homeless when she moved to North Carolina. She also became founder of Just Joi Conversations Podcast. Joy was truly that, a great joy to have in our lives. She was adventurous, with an infectious laugh, an encourager whose motto was, no matter what happens in life, “Don’t stop believing!”
