Joseph Hubert Cox Jr. was born in Dayton, Ohio, on October 9, 1946, to the late Joseph Sr. and Catherine Cox. Joseph passed away Thursday, September 7, 2023, at his residence.
Joseph served in the United States Navy. He worked for several companies as an Electronic Technician and later retired from Behr as a Plant Maintenance Technician.
Joseph enjoyed fishing, small game hunting, riding his motorcycle, drag racing at Kil-Kare Speedway & Drag Strip with his family and friends, and on occasion he enjoyed a good cold beer.
Joseph was a kind and giving person. He would help anyone in need even if it meant giving them the shirt off his back. Besides spending time with his family and friends, his greatest enjoyment was spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. To them he was their “pepaw.” Some of his final words to his daughter: “It wasn’t the end, it’s a beginning of a life well lived.”
Joseph was preceded in death by his parents; wife of 35 years, Carolyn Cox; sister, Martha “Marty” Glynn.
He leaves to cherish his memory daughter, Angie (Leo) French; son, Gary Cox; sister, Elizabeth “Liz” (Donald Jr.) Poole; grandchildren; Brian (Julie) Gustin, Richard Gustin, Samantha (Jason) Boggess, Tye Baker, Rowan Hodowal; great grandchildren, Ellie Gustin, Franklin Gustin, Skylar Gustin, Josh Boggess; a host of other relatives and friends including his dog, Happy.
Graveside service 11 am Friday, September 15, 2023, at Sugar Grove Cemetery, OH-503, West Alexandria, OH. Arrangements entrusted to House of Wheat Funeral Home.
